Today marked another milestone for the Iranian-American tech community in Silicon Valley. Uber’s board of directors appointed Tehran-Born Dara Khosrowshahi as its new CEO after the controversies around its founder, Travis Kalanick. As Pejman Nozad eloquently puts, “The Persian Mafia in Tech gets $70B bigger!”.

Success isn’t lost on Nozad, or on Khosrowshahi, or many in the Iranian community, which partly explains why many members  have become vocal about their opposition to the policy and rhetoric of President Trump, who has actively worked to slow Muslin Americans from entering into the U. پناهندگی S., including from Iran.
